The Department of Botany is the oldest department of botany in Sudan t is located in the eastern part of the central campus of the University of Khartoum. It offers 5 years undergraduate B.Sc. honours degree in one of three specializations:

1. Plant Physiology-Biochemistry

2. Ecology-Plant Taxonomy

3. Plant Genetics-Microbiology.

In addition, the Department offers MSc and PhD by research postgraduate degrees in the the Botany specializations: 

1. Environmental Studies

2. Plant Genetics

3. Physiology-Biochemistry

4. Plant Biotechnology
